one year later

FIRST-ANNIVERSARYWell it’s been a year since I went live with this blog (18 January 2013 – The First Step). It’s been a crazy year and I didn’t get to put as much effort in to my writing as I would have liked. For those of you who have been with me from the beginning you will know why I dropped off the internet for a while. A long, hard pregnancy followed by a difficult introduction to parenthood have meant I haven’t had much brain power for more than feeding and clothing myself… and now my little one.

A year ago as I celebrated the launch of my website with friends and family, I had big dreams about where it would all take me. By now I expected I would have been flooded with offers to write for other blogs or publications and I would be making some money doing what I love. I hoped I would have thousands of people subscribed to my website and following me on Facebook. I thought I’d finally found the inspiration the universe demanded of me to make my life the stuff of dreams.

It’s all taking a little longer than I hoped but the universe rewards patience and tenacity. So while I may not get to write as often as I would like there is something in my life at the moment that demands a little more attention and deserves all my energy. Everyone who follows me on Facebook knows about my resolution to spend this year being more grateful for the little things in my life, it’s my 365 days of gratitude. Part of that is recognising that while it’s been hard, I only get this time with my son once, so I have to appreciate every moment. That doesn’t leave much time for chasing dreams.

I see and hear things everyday that are article worthy… for instance, this morning my upstairs neighbour emptied a bucket of water over their balcony directly down on to my clean washing drying on the line. What inspiration for an article about courtesy! My iPhone comes in very handy these days for taking one handed notes so I remember to write about all this stuff when I get time.

One day there will be free hours in the day I get to have all to myself and my passions but right now I am a mum and that takes alot of time. My heart is full to overflowing with emotions I never knew. So this past year didn’t turn out how I expected… maybe it turned out even better.

Thanks for all your support so far! I hope you’ll all stick with me on this journey!!

Wouldn’t miss it for quids. Remember the old song….. ‘things can only get better…’ (is that where we first saw Robbie?)
